I run captchacompare. I write under the handle cc.

I am not a vendor. I do not sell a CAPTCHA, a CAPTCHA-bypass service, or anything else. I am not an academic and I am not a journalist. I am a person who has spent more evenings than I would like to admit poking at CAPTCHA systems, and I started writing things down because I could not find a single place that compared them honestly.

Why this site exists

CAPTCHA vendors mostly talk about themselves on landing pages aimed at security buyers. Independent coverage is patchy. Reviews on aggregator sites are either ancient, generated, or quietly paid for. I wanted somewhere that read like one person’s notebook, with the screenshots and the dates and the things that did not work.

What I will and will not do

  • I will name services I think are good and services I think are not.
  • I will publish the date, browser, OS, and IP type for every test I run.
  • I will link to my sources.
  • I will admit when I do not know something.
  • I will not take money for coverage. There are no affiliate links on this site.
  • I will not pretend a service is something it is not.
